Nurses Make Skincare Easy
Cosmetic nurses Samantha Hair and Jessica Whalley, who are twins, have launched a cosmeceutical skincare line featuring just three-products as no one “needs to apply ten different products every day”.
While working in their Cosmetic Injectables Australia clinic in Darwin, the sisters became “disillusioned by the unnecessarily complex array of skincare treatments on the market”.
“We found that many products did not contain strong enough actives to create clinically significant results and that many that did offer potent enough ingredients were being sold in separate creams and serums as if only one active ingredient could be used per product,” says Sam.
“It really doesn’t need to be so complicated, so we decided to simplify it ourselves.
“Over complicating a skincare regime leads to non-compliance, people are just too busy for that. We don’t need to apply ten different products every day.”
While working on their nursing Masters Degree, the sisters researched and clinically tested ways to “effectively combine a number of actives into one potent serum” – that serum then became the basis for their three product Skin Health Science range:
- Carbo Cleanser (featuring activated charcoal as well as Bilberry, Sugar Maple, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel and Cranberry fruit extracts)
- REM Repair Serum (containing Retinaldehyde, Tetrapeptide 30 and Vitamin B3)
- RP Moisturiser (containing Zinc Oxide, Titanium Oxide, Tetrapeptide 30 and Hyaluronic Acid)
Jessica says the range is suitable for men and women and all skin types.
“Skin is designed to protect you from the outside world,” she says.
“If you don’t feed it the basics of what it wants it won’t accept anything you offer it, no matter how expensive or beautiful the bottle of lotion is.
“It is a clever and powerful organ, with the exception of more complicated skin conditions, the general rule is that if you feed skin correctly, it can work out the rest for itself.”
